ASAP 是 as soon as possible 的縮略形式，它的意思是”儘快，儘早“，因此很多人都把它當作 right away，也就是催促某人要馬上做某事，其實 ASAP 的最嚴格的翻譯是沒有暗示迅速或匆忙的。
As soon as possible 的完整形式應該是 as soon as it is possible for me to do it，也就是如果有時間和資源的話，那麼就可以儘快去做，沒有的話，那就只能被動地等，例如：
Please send it as soon as possible。
請儘快把它寄出去。
We will get your order to you as soon as possible。
我們將會把您的訂貨儘早送達。
I now
look forward to
going back to work as soon as possible。
我現在渴望儘早回到工作崗位。
Let‘s
get it over with as soon as possible， rather than drag it out。
我們儘快把它完成吧，不要再拖了。
Could you let me know asap if this is something you would consider？
你能儘快告訴我你是否會考慮這個問題嗎？

ASAP。
儘快。
因此 ASAP 這種表達方式很模糊，可能讓別人把它理解為他們什麼時候可以處理某事，但現實中郵件的往來中都是希望對方儘快做某事的，哪怕對方沒時間或資源，也要儘快爭取。
其實我們可以用其他的表達方式來表達真正的“儘快，儘早”，常見的有 At your earliest convenience，Right away，Urgent/urgently，Immediately，Without delay，At once，Soon，Quickly，Promptly，Straight away 等，例如：
at your earliest convenience：
Please reply at your earliest convenience。
請儘早答覆。
right away：
I want it sent right away。
馬上把它發出去。
urgent/urgently：
He asked to
see
the manager for something urgent。
他有急事求見經理。
I need to speak to her urgently。
我得馬上跟她談談。
immediately：
She shut her eyes and fell asleep immediately。
她閉上眼，立刻就睡著了。
without delay：
We’ll send you a quote without delay。
我們會立刻送一份報價給你。
at once：
If necessary I can come at once。
如果有必要，我可以馬上來。
soon：
We need to get going soon。
我們需要馬上出發。
quickly：
He replied to my letter very quickly。
他立即答覆了我的信。
promptly
She deals with all the correspondence promptly and efficiently。
她迅速有效地處理全部來往信件。
straight away：
I‘ll do it straight away。
這件事我馬上就做。
從時間的緊迫感程度上來看，as soon as possible 確實沒有緊迫到必須馬上要做的程度，因此在郵件來往中要根據實際的情況合理選用表達方式，不要造成對方所做的不是你所想的。
